Build confidence, discipline, and real self-defense skills in a fun, safe environment designed for children of every age and ability level.
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu teaches children how to solve problems under pressure, respect others, and never give up. Prof. Ernesto James has developed an age-appropriate curriculum that builds character as much as technique.

Kids learn to listen, follow instructions, and apply themselves both on and off the mat.
Every class builds coordination, balance, and full-body strength in a fun and active environment.
Children develop the ability to protect themselves while building genuine self-belief.
Training with peers teaches kids how to communicate, cooperate, and treat others with respect.
Belt progressions give kids a clear system for setting goals and experiencing the reward of hard work.
A welcoming, energetic environment where kids make lasting friendships and love coming to class.
Parents consistently tell us the changes they see at home are just as impressive as what happens on the mat.
Your child learns to handle conflict without aggression and develops the quiet confidence that prevents bullying in the first place.
The concentration required on the mat directly improves attention span, listening skills, and academic performance.
Children learn to respect instruction, follow structure, and persevere through challenges, values they carry into every area of life.
Kids train with peers who share the same values of respect and hard work, building lasting friendships in a positive social environment.
No screens, no sidelines. BJJ is a full-body workout disguised as play, improving strength, flexibility, coordination, and endurance.
The belt & stripe system gives children concrete, achievable goals, teaching them that hard work and persistence lead to real rewards.

Come 10 minutes early in comfortable clothes. No gi needed on the first day. Prof. Ernesto or a staff member will greet you and walk you through our gym.
Every kids' class starts with fun movement games that build athletic skills. Your child will be smiling before they even know they're training.
Instructors break down age-appropriate techniques step by step. New students work with a partner at a safe, controlled pace.
Older kids (8+) finish class with supervised live rolling, always at an appropriate level. First-timers observe or participate lightly as comfortable.
Absolutely. Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is one of the safest martial arts for kids because it focuses on leverage and technique rather than strikes. At Ares BJJ Omaha, all classes are supervised by experienced coaches who prioritize a safe, controlled environment. Drilling and rolling are always age-appropriate and monitored closely.
Not at all; in fact, most of our students start with zero experience. Our kids' program is designed to welcome complete beginners. Coaches break down every technique step by step, and your child will progress at their own pace in a supportive and encouraging environment.
For the first class, comfortable athletic wear such as a t-shirt and shorts or sweatpants is perfectly fine. No gi or uniform is required until your child decides to enroll. Once they join the program, we can guide you on where to get the right gear.
Belt progression in kids' BJJ is based on skill development, attitude, and consistency rather than a fixed timeline. Most students earn their first stripe or belt within a few months of regular training. We celebrate every milestone, big or small, to keep kids motivated and proud of their progress.
Yes! We love having siblings train together at Ares BJJ Omaha. Training with a brother or sister builds a shared experience, keeps kids motivated, and makes the drive to the gym a lot easier for parents. Both can join the same class if they are in the same age group.
This is one of the most common concerns parents have, and the answer is no. BJJ teaches children when and how to use their skills responsibly. Our program places a strong emphasis on respect, self-control, and discipline both on and off the mat. Most parents report that their children become calmer, more patient, and more confident after starting BJJ.
One free class. No pressure. Our coaches will introduce your child to the mats, the team, and a structured program built for growing kids.
